Mike Clark Critiques Fire District’s 5-Year Delay on New Station

Washoe County Commissioner Mike Clark is raising concerns over the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District’s prolonged inaction, calling attention to its failure to construct a new fire station despite five years of opportunity and planning.

According to Clark, the continued delay not only represents a breakdown in leadership and accountability, but also poses potential risks to public safety in one of the region’s fastest-growing areas. He questions where the funds allocated for the project have gone and why the district has yet to break ground.

“This isn’t just about bricks and mortar—it’s about basic emergency response and protecting our residents,” Clark said. “Five years is more than enough time to get this done.”

The issue is expected to be a focal point in upcoming discussions about fire district priorities, public trust, and regional planning.
